My guess, Datura.....a weed and poisonous to boot I think!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I've got this one ... and I know I planted it myself from a random plant sale a couple of years ago.

It was labeled as "peruvian love apple" by the grower ... but I suspect that was a name they made up!

It's an ornamental non-edible relative of physalis, tomatillo and cape gooseberry, the dried stems with chinese lanterns on them are nicely decorative when dried.

I can't seem to stop it coming back no matter how I dispose of the plants though ... it certainly grows very well!

Palustris

The shoo-fly plant (Nicandra physalodes). Fairly common self sown weed these days.
Gardening is the great leveller.

That's the one!  Shoo fly plant - sometimes known as apple of Peru.

I didn't know it was a problem weed ... or I would never have planted it on the plot  :BangHead:

I still think the dried stalks with lanterns are very decorative though.

Digeroo

Poisonous, not edible.
