Bought 2 300g bags of onion sets (1 red) and a bag of Shallots and thought they were very good quality. I have used them for the last few years in my mums garden, which is clay soil. had very good harvests from them.

Yup - I use them every year for shallots, onions and spuds..

I have just bought loose Scottish potato seed from a local nursery, they had about 25 varieties, and they worked out at about 10p each.
I think it is worth giving the independant local nursery a look. I also bought some loose shallots, and they had loose onions too.

All of the above plus a pack of 8 small Red Duke Of York seed potatoes for 99p from Home Bargains.
