Good.  You'll be nice and warm this winter.

Just make sure you keep doors and windows closed when the heating is on and wear jumpers, socks, slippers etc so you can reduce the heat levels, and thus fuel consumption, but stay comfy.

Have you fitted individual thermostats to each radiator? If not then get it done. That way you can turn off the rads in rooms you do not use and reduce the heat in places where you do not need it to be so warm. When we moved here there was one thermostat which set the temperature for the whole house which meant that some rooms were hot and others cool. We changed it pdq.

It could work out cheaper to sit in a nice warm pub every evening and leave the heating off.

Seriously gradually increase the thermostat until you are comfortable. thick curtains,  close doors in the room you are using most. Still put nice warm clothes on,  don't swan about the house in your undercrackers.

Thanks for the replys its lovely and warm, its 11c outside and 22c inside. what I like is the instant hot water on tap no waiting for the immersion heater to get hot and costing a fortune in electricity to run.
its been money wellspent and im a happy Jimbo

We haven't turned on our central heating yet but have lit the woodburner of an evening to take off the chill.

What central heating have you got, Jim; gas or oil?  It will mean really big bills if it is the latter.

We had gas fitted and a combination boiler for the hot water we only have a small yard so no room for an oil tank, its a 2 up and 2 down plus bathroom, so its only a small house, so the bills shouldn't be to large, at least that's what I am hopeing for.

Gas is definitely cheaper than oil, so with a small house your bills shouldn't be that big.

Fired up the rads yesterday to make sure everything was working, just in case we get a cold snap. Still too warm to switch on yet and the forecast is warm so a few more shillings saved. Not long now and the warm jumper winter allowance should be dropping through the letter box.
