Winding down the nursery, just a couple of thousand white foxgloves to pot up. Sell all the clutter we that has accumulated from all the garden shows. About time I took it easy and went back to growing a few veg on a small plot and making some artistic stuff to sell. I am not selling on here but I shall miss some of our old artwork which has to go so we can have a makeover.

Maybe you could just be a tourist attraction with all your artwork ...

I recognise some of those pink obelisks and the mosaic covered figures from GWL shows, the settings look idyllic you will be sad go see them go I'm sure...
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

How will you manage without the milk if the old cow goes? :toothy10:

I suppose it is idyllic, but when you work in it everyday you take it for granted, shame ain't it. My idea of a break is to head into civilisation.  The garden  has a micro climate and being in walking distance from the sea, it stays reasonably frost free. As for opening the garden to the public, it is a very secret place and that's how it will stay. We have been approached a few times but I just tell them it is not ready yet. Plus it is not wheelchair friendly and putting hard paths everywhere would not fit in with the ambience. Don't worry about the milk, I am toying with a fibreglass goat with an optic up its jacksy :sunny:

That is such a nice contented looking cow! Did you make it? If so, out of what?

Ace, I am not getting it, are you just closing down for the season or retiring from what you do so well. I am a bit out of date with general happenings .

Ah Ace, I often think of you surrounded with all that beautiful gardenwork you create it seems impossible to believe you will not be doing this.. am I getting this all wrong or if you prefer, ar..se first

I feel sad now.

Ace . When I first joined this group many years ago I remember a chap that did mosaics. He did a cow in mosaic and also a moroccan styled part of his garden. Was this you by any chance?
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Retireing from the show garden scene Jeannine. Getting too old to put in 14 hour days and the market has gone from the specialised plants. Getting plants ready for shows cost so much now with extra heat, lighting, special compost mixes etc. it works out over £500 a square metre of planting. The old artwork has been around so long now, we are getting bored with it. I will have to keep busy as that is my way, but something that will wait if I don't feel like finishing the job.

I have worked since I was 14 and 54 years later, I reckon I deserve to take it a bit easier.

@ shirton,  yes, unless there is another idiot on this site.

Can you dig up the pics Ace because they looked amazing?

Guess you now become a consultant with income from you knowledge and experience than the hard day to day work of running a business.

Always a shame but then one can not go on for ever either.

I loved your mosaics Ace and your gardens were always beautiful, I hope you can carry on creating them in some way, can't imagine you sitting back and putting your feet up :)

Am I right that you are also into Music.

I enjoy gardening, but would not like to have to do it 14 hours a day.  I do hope you enjoy your retirement.

Can you keep a hand in the show scene?

That's another good reason, I have enjoyed getting around the folk clubs and festivals this summer. I have even got my own folk club up and running. I always used to play 'Country Gardens' on anything we worked on for luck.
