I finally bought some erythronium bulbs
i see on Wiki they're eaten as a vegetable in Japan, like hostas
So, are they susceptible to slugs also, like hostas?

Cannot say that I have ever noticed the sort of damage to Erythroniums as one does to Hostas. Then. they do grow, flower and disappear before the majority of the molluscs come out of hibernation, at least round here.
Gardening is the great leveller.

OK Thanks

early flowering and die back

my fritillarias do get some slug attack though

Is it definitely slugs on the frits? Not the dreaded lily beetle.  I haven't seen slugs on either (glad to say -not that I dig the bulbs up to eat them far too pretty)!

i'm sure it was slugs on the frits. It was the first year after planting from packet bulbs. They're OK now, but they haven't multiplied much.  Maybe they grew at a funny time first off
