Has anyone visited this web site? www.freecycle.org When you log on go to international then UK then the group that's nearest to you. I just missed out on a 62 meter roll of heavy duty weed control for free :(
It's a great way to get rid of stuff that's too good to just throw away but don't know what to do with it.

Hi Ani - I think this sounds a great idea but it's a bit of a faff to join - you have to join before you can even see the posts, and joining is complicated - I am waiting to be 'approved' before i can see messages!  ???
Ah well, wait & see I suppose - but not a good start ::) ???

You should be able to see the messages without joining Watta, I can.

Well I can't  - the list on the side wher messages are is under 'members' only and wn't letme in yet until I've been 'approved', & seeing as it's a US site that could take some time!

I was approved straight away and have posted a giveaway, which they like you to do before asking for something first.

i got rid of a perfectly good stereo system plus speakers the other day this way.
i think it's brilliant.

though i am not checking my local site regularly enough to spot anything - i check as and when i remember.

as with most yahoo hosted message boards (the london one is) you will need to be approved, but this only usually takes a couple of hours.

Well guys I finally am approved!! ::)
Great site though once you're on it properly - and there are some good links  - to self sufficientish and composters to name just 2 ( and there are more).
There was a shredder going (but went yesterday!) so I'll have to post an item to recycle first.

Well done wattapain, I bet you felt terribly excluded not getting an instant reply!  :( Perhaps if you logged on as wattapain, they didn't want to take a risk with a potential Pain in the .......! ;D
