I've just been given a bag of corms, and I'm trying to work out where best to put them. Would they suffer as a result of winter waterlogging? It's a problem on my plot, but I can put them in a raised bed.

That sounds a pretty good idea to me. Not too wet and you could move them if they seem to be suffering due to rotten weather. Also rather than in the ground you can keep track of where they are, lift and replant after flowering if they have multiplied.

Just a thought.

Waterlogging, what ever time of the year is NO NO for saffron...so if you have raised bed or large tubs/planters spare, that would be ideal. Do mix plenty of grit and/or sand into the planting mix too.

Thanks. The raised bed should be ready in the next week.
