Just a quickie to say hi.
Took over my first couch grass infested allotment last autumn and have managed to clear 4 beds. Spuds planted at easter have just started to poke their leaves through the soil. Onions are sprouting away merrily and cabbage and cauliflower seedlings doing magnificently (so far). Have got Fiday off work to finally have a bonfire of all the rubbish left behind and start by herb bed and sow more seeds. It's all going too well!!!!! ???

The photo was actually taken in Alice Springs in November when it was a balmy 40 degrees (centigrade).
Have noticed some wireworms in the soil while digging out the couch grass which were promptly despatched. Any tips for getting rid of the blighters?
My plot is one on quite a huge site which is nowhere near being fully utilised. Consequently, not too many other people about yet but they seem friendly enough.

Hi Sprout. I am new too. Luckily hardly any couch grass - but one huge plant of it growing right through a growing raspberry cane - any tips on its removal???????

Sprout

I think the only way is to carefully dig it out ensuring that you get all of the roots otherwise it'll re-grow.

Glyphosate.

But if you won't,  then after fruiting dig up the whole stool and grass,  carefully tease the rb roots from the couchgrass,  and replant the rb.

But the grass will have half the summer to spread.
Good gardening!
