Allotments 4 All

Considering the crappy seasonal weather weve had this season,I just had to share the little bit of bounty we have had luck with....................



Beautiful crop of Loch Ness blackberries had me reaching for the brandy along with the glut of Plums also ended up steeped in Brandy.
The Jalapenos finally grew and are vinigered.
some well tendered mixed Tommies from the GH ....at long last.
Our 1st Sweet corns and Gherkins have now shown along with plenty of green peppers.
The dwarf Peach has secretly been housing fruit from under its leaves in its first season.

But the icing for us is our very 1st Butternut,"of eatable size"....bout bluddy time.

Makes it all worth while, doesn't it, well done, that's an early butternut isn't it? And can you tell us what variety your peach is, I am so jealous of those!

Its a Dwarf Peach called "Terrace Amber".... ;)

Well done with your butternut! For the first time since I've had a plot my butternuts have failed this year.  The plants are only slightly bigger now than they were when I put them outdoors.

What variety is yours?

The Butter nut is......Waltham Butternut

The Gherkins are Parisian Pickling

Wautoma Cucumbers.

 Early Green Jalapeno

 Sanguina Beetroot

 Gigant Kohlrabi   (although we picked ours small as there scrummy in spiced honey glazed KohlRabi)

 Golden Bantam Sweetcorn

 Tomatillo  .... this so far is like a triffid in the polly,husks are just forming so not sure if we will get fruit setting in them or not as its our first time trying to grow them "a fun Tommy Variety"that has not blighted  so far
but hoping that we,ll get some fruit to chutney or salsa with.

things that didnt work...................

 Barbentane Aubergine....no fruit set at all

 Tender and True Parsnips.....plenty of foliage but small thin "snips"

anyway,quite happy with their seeds so going to try different things next term.

We would be interested if anybody else has tried other seeds from them.....?????

Yes and have been happy with the seeds.  And you can save your own from their seeds because they are all open pollinated.  A mixture of new and old varieties and a few exotics (that are easy to grow) thrown in too. 

Some varieties are in the catalogue only a few times and then don't return for ages.  If you like a particular variety, it is a case of stocking up or following their seedsaving instructions at the bottom of the catalogue pages.
