I guess that reading this link, there is no way that I can just post a picture off my computer onto a post.

Is this correct?

Inline uploading does require a tenner sub which goes towards the upkeep of the site.
There are other ways - mainly using external hosts or your own free gallery..There are lots of posts about how to do this if you do a quick search.
