Can mushroom compost be used at any time of the year?
Should you avoid growing carrots etc in it as you would manure?
If I use it will I get loads of mushrooms popping up all over my beds?
Once applied to a bed do I have to wait for a period of time to elapse before planting?

Use it as a soil conditioner,and enjoy the mushrooms as a bonus,i used it when i could get hold of it,and enjoyed lots of button mushrooms for weeks on end.

Yes. You can use it any time of the year. Plant anything in it. I buy 90 bags every year as I got caught out with manure being contaminated. I buy it at the end of the season and spread all over the allotment and leave it over winter. Rotavate in and away you go. There is a small amount of lime in it, but it's washed out over winter. I swear by it.

Could I ask where you buy it and how much it costs? Our supplier has just put his price up from £8.50 per cu metre to £30 per cu metre and most plot holders can't afford that.

I get mine from Ashbourne mushroom  company. That is a bit too far away from you. At the moment it's £85:00 for 96 bags. I wait till they have a sale in the Autumn when it's £75:00 for 96. You will have to google for the nearest and see if they do free delivery like ours.
