Do you have a list of things you have always wanted but never got, I would like..

A gold thimble
A lions head rug
A suit of armour
A harp
A sterling silver small container/grater that scews off and holds a nutmeg
A half size violin
A coloured copy of the movie Westward the Women
A copy of the old movie The Shiralee
A koala bear
A chatalaine, well loaded of course.

Thats all.

Oh and a 200 lb halibut but my son and his friends have promised me that for this year....

Looks like a Christmas list to me. You will have to make sure that John sees it Jeannine ;D ;D ;D
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

goodlife

That certainly looks interesting list.. ;D I'm sorry I can't help you getting hold of them.
I don't think I have such a list..I've never even thought of it.
Here we go..I'll try. My list would be ..
1. I would love to have small holding (not that it would be that different life from what I have now)
2. My biggest wish ever since I was a little girl was to have a dog. This finally came true 20yrs ago. So now my         wish is, never ever be without a dog again.
3. I would love to create my own orchard and see it grow...my plot is not far off from being orchard..but still, its not the same. Purposely created space for fruit trees, surrounded by hedges and loooong shopping list for lovely trees. Most fun would be just planning it all and hunting down all the treasures that would grow there.
4. I WANT a goat!...one with 'funny' personality and bit of temper too would be nice..proper billy.. ;D

I'm getting quite carried away now..I didn't know I had so many 'wants' in me.. ::)
5. Would love to have bit of woodland with the small holding.
6.  ..and last 'want'...just enough money behind me for us not needing to go to work so we would have time to look after my dream.. ::)
Suppose my list is not quite what you meant Jeannine..but I don't have other things to list..well.....SEEEDS! ;D

Some of your list are easier and cheaper than others.  I am sure that a half size violin is not that expensive.  You can get an nice new shiny chinese one for very little.  My daughter had one at one stage but she has moved on to a bigger and better one long since.   Amazon has quite a selection.   The price you could pay  might depend on whether anyone will actually play it.

Surely any good silver smith could make a nutmeg holder.  Antique ones can be very expensive.  Amazon have some nice looking on silver ones on a very modest budget.  Thanks for the thread I have fallen for one at about £10.  I live in the capital of the antique shops.  If you are serious I will have an ask around.

Is the Koala still alive?

And if a Chatelaine is the female who own or controls a very large house or estate, what are you going to do with her?   ;D

Or do you want to be a Chatelaine ie you want a castle.
My son built a castle when he was young it is in the loft, so I suppose I am a chatelaine. ;D   http://www.usborne.com/catalogue/catalogue.aspx?id=3828  You can build an entire medaeval city with cathedral, town and village then you can be a princess. ;D

I think the fun thing to do is trying to see how you can fullfil the list on a very limited budget.  Afterall once you have the items they are of little interest.
A silver thimble is much better, gold ones are too heavy to use.

I do not have a list I just want much less clutter in my house.

At the moment I just want to get rid of one thing every week!
Downsizing is the name of the game and I shan't be able to stay here for ever..
My only 'want' would be for someone to repair my back but they say they can't so perhaps a bit of trying to live within my limitations wouldn't do any harm.
Finally I've found one! I hope I shall be able to walk well enough to escort my third daughter down the aisle in May! And find some shoes fit for my back and the occasion..... ;D

I come from a family of "backs" and I hate people who say I've got a bad back when they haven't had yours, real back sufferers haven't had YOURS ! OH had surgery several years ago and still suffers .Those shoes are there just waiting for you x :)

Hi.. a half sized violin,,you know I don;t really know. Many of these things have been wants since I was a child so I guess that is why. I think any old well used one would do now as I am bigger so a full size one would look right anyway.

I don't want any of these things to be new either.

Realistically I will never get the koala bear, that was a dream from childhood when my borther left for Australia and promised to send me one, he did, a toy one and I felt very let down. I guess I skould modify this one to perhaps a cuddle with a Koala bear.

The gold thimble has to be of antique design but I would use it, I have the gold and need to find an old silver one that a mould could be made from it.

The nutneg grater has ti be antique, I have followed a couple on e bay but so far have not seen one with a design I like..still hpeful on that. I actually did have one years ago but it went missing.

The chatelaine..well to find one fully loaded in a design I like may prove very difficult and very expensive, but ut is my plan for this next year to make a start, if I buy a basic antique chateline I can collect  the silver bits as and when I can till I am happy with it.

The rug,,well that comes from childhood too and very unlikey especially as I believe it is illegal to own them here,,not totally sire about the lion one. I did have a wolf one for a long time but it wasn't right.

I doubt I will fulfill many of my wishes but some are attainable I guess.

The harp would be wonderful as would the suit of armour but I would have no place to pit it so not too worried about them.

Weel I am going chatelaine hunting..

Jeannine! Please explain? Why would you want a harp or a suit of armour? Museums are full of the latter {or you have to have megabucks!!!) and I don't know?? Are you a harpist?

Jeannine

I can't expalin, it is nuts, but they are things I always wanted as  child, and if I go to a museum I still want one. I have no logical explantion to offer..

If I am to be totally truthful I guess I would have liked to live in the sort of house where these things were .

dont be fooled by the name I am a Lady!! :-*

Jeannine, I have most of a suit of armour in my house  :)  My daughter is a medieval re-enactor, she is a female normally but when they re-enact a battle she plays a man and has plenty of armour to protect her  :)  Rusty old stuff at the moment but it polishes up nicely  :)  She fights with a spear!

Deb P

Hmmmm, I think I would go for a creepy old house with at least one turret and a gothic conservatory, a walled kitchen garden, a pair of Irish Wolfhounds, an old Jag, and a bespoke Vivienne Westwood suit. That will do nicely thank you.... ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Tulipa

Whoops, just read my post, should have said she re-enacts female normally, ie when their camp is set up she wears medieval dress, made as authentically as possible, and just re-enacts as a man when in battle!

Jill

My long held wish is for a grandfather clock tick tocking in the hall... and the type of house (Victorian and big!) to go with it of course.  I can but wish!  Jeannine if you're ever passing through London, let me know.  We seem to have violins all over the place. ;D

Nigel B

There's not much I can think of really. Oh I have a gazillion needs, but yer actual wants. Hmmmmm.

Oh. I know..
Globes!

At one time, when I had loose change in my pocket, I wanted to collect globes. I still have two or three very small ones left.
In my wildest dream I'd have the whole set of planets, in glass, and loosely to scale as well.

Ah well.

I can dream. :)
"Carry on therefore with your good work.  Do not rest on your spades, except for those brief periods which are every gardeners privilege."

Jeannine

Oh Jill, don't tempt me..lucky you. I do have a grandfather clock, it has crossed the Atlantic 3 times now and is still going strong.

OOh a suit of armour, wonderful, I envy your daughter, but I always wanted to be a camp follower..mmm

Globes, what a wonderful idea, I always wanted snow globes but most I saw were cheap and nasty and I wanted old Victorian ones, but I love your idea of real  globes so much nicer than mine.

I found the nutmeg grater online yesterday but held myself back at 850 pounds sterling(sorry have no sign for English pounds now)
