Hi All
I have entered the largest tomato competition however the largest i have is black russian which is not that large and so I wondered if someone has say 4 seeds of a large beefsteak tom that i could have to try to take the title!.

I can swap for same of golden sunrise, sungold, alisa craig, black russian, black cherry, roma, red cherry, or gardeners delight.
Anyone got a few of a whopper they can spare?
Fingers crossed

Not even sure what you'd do with a 1kg tom!

Debs

Out of interest, do the big uns have much flavour to them?

I've never grown bigger than bit over 1lb and those been ok..but there is so many other factors playing a part for the development or lack of the flavour. Amount sun light, amount of water, the soil, temperature.
Looking at some the really HUGE competition monsters on net..they don't look very appetizing.. :-\..but then again, they are grown just to get the maximum size... :-\
I shall tell you what my HUGE winner will taste like later on.... ;) ;D

Some of the tastiest varieties I grew last year were also some of the largest fruit. Several varieties I'm hoping to grow this year, although chosen for great taste (I hope) could also produce large sized fruit. One tomato that caught my eye is "Old, old unnamed Bulgarian tomato" from Real Seeds http://www.realseeds.co.uk/tomatoes_bulgarian.html which I think is the same variety as listed at Tatiana's http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/wiki/Bulgarian_Old_Sort_No_Name. I have spare seeds for some large fruiting varieties if anyone wants some.

Dare I be cheeky enough to ask? Or is that pushing people's kindness just too far?
