Hello and welcome to a4a forum Daz  ;D

i eat most things - i do like broccoli, carrots, potatoes, cabbage etc and most salads  :)

at the moment i'm sorting out my space - i have about 10m x 10m to play with and more if needed but
don't want to over do it with my back  :(

i'm trying to find out what stuff to add to my soil.

Hello darren69, welcome to A4A.  Potatoes are a good crop for new ground, and Kestrel are a good choice as the pests don't bother them too much and they make a lovely firm tasty mash, and you'll have plenty of wireworm if you're digging up a lawn to make a veggie bed.

Maybe cover the area with cardboard over winter.  This helps kill grass and by spring you have a much easier job digging.  The cardboard should disintegrate over winter.  If you have a last mow, cover your proposed  area with grass cuttings on top of the cardboard.  And have fun planning what to grow.  Welcome to A4A.
