I don't recommend a gardening book lightly, as I find most are either too basic or just very much of a sameness (doesn't usually stop me buying thwem though!). However, I bought this liitle book on a whim in a bookshop and cannot recommend it highly enough! It's the 'Pocket Guide to the Edible Garden: What To Do And When, Month By Month' by Joe Hashman.

It has been designed as a month by month guide, and has the most fabulous illustrations, all black line drawings showing everything from how to prune a cordon tree to making sure your compost rots down properly. I have been suprised as to how many hints and tips I have picked up, so I think it will appeal to anyone with an allottment. My only gripe is the cross referencing, there seems to be a reference to another section or an illustration on every other line which can slow your reading down a bit, but overall a really useful little book: ideal stocking filler! ;D

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Cheers Deb  ;D
I ordered one for a Christmas pressie (sorry Dan I forgot to go through the shop link above)

Book arrived yesterday, the bits I've read so far, are really helpful and it's well set out. I can see I'm going to need another one as it's going to be too used to give as a pressie!

Glad you like it, I wanted to recommend it as I've been so disappointed with most allotment growing books as the info is usually too basic but I really was pleasantly suprised with this one. Glad I'm not the only one who likes it! ;D

Thanks for the suggestion and the comments by those who have bought it.  Having just taken over an allotment I think it will be useful so have ordered it today.
