That's ironic, I've just finished watching a DVD, 'Elvis Lives' (for the umpteenth time) and for any real Elvis fans out there, it's a must have. It took me long enough to realise exactly what was going on, but it was recorded in Memphis on the 25th Ann. of his death, with extracts from live shows he had done when younger, only using the visuals and his voice on a large screen, in front of a modern live audience. All his original backing groups and band members were there playing live to his vocals. What a show it made, would have loved to have been there. One fantastic feat of musical skill and direction.

If you want something moving, send a PM please.  We're not here 24/7 reading every post so you need to alert us if you want something doing and give us more than 5 minutes to do it in.

I've merged the topics for you.

Elvis was the greatest rock n roll singer of his day, but his limitation was that whereas he became the greatest exponent of the genre, he was unable to change it in any substantial way - rock n roll was still rock and roll after 12 years of Elvis.

Compare and contrast that to the Beatles, who took 50's rock n roll and turned it in seven years into psychedelic pop, opening the gates for all the music genres that followed, from Prog rock, all types or Metal, New romaticism, Punk, and all the way to the 90's. On top of that, The Beatles  influenced art, fashion and many other fields. Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood are just as much a consequence of the Beatles as Andy Warhol and Tubular Bells.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

Elvis Was the greatest Rock & roll artist EVER, his music is played all over the world every day.  The Beatles, what Beatles Mmm,  :P ;D.

Thank you for those lovely pictures Graceland, he was one  8) dude.
We have seen those shows where they synchronise the singing & speaking 4 times & have shaken hands with 2 of his original backing singers, the shows are amazing, just have to keep going back. They have pictures of him singing with his backing singers a real must see. the pictures are about 7ft brilliant. ;D
Just google & you may be able to get a seat.
