Just got back from lottie where I've been fleecing courgies, pumpkins etc in the twilight under a pelting hailstorm.  :o

How's the weather with you?

Oh god! That's dedication! It's raining here, so I hope that means the temps won't be getting too low here tonight.

Bugloss2009

sorry I thought you said Owl

triffid

No owl, just me (night-owl?)  ::)

Soooo happy today; everything survived the night.  ;D And we did have a frost - just the merest silvering but maybe even that would have been enough to kill off the squashies? Anyway, it was worth going out in all that stupid weather if only for my peace of mind. God bless bubblewrap...

Anyway, we've at last had enough rain to make digging a pleasure rather than an ordeal. I'm specially glad because we've got a good few new plotholders on our site and it's been so discouraging for them. We were freezing Jan, drowning in Feb and then by the end of March anyone with unimproved ground had iron-hard London clay... not much wiggle-room for anyone new to the business. It was great to see lots of cheerful faces and renewed energy today.  :)

GeeGee

Cripes!  :o

What is happening with out weather nowadays? Triffid are you in NW London? Geographically it isn't too far from where I am in Kent and when I first read your thread I assumed you must be somewhere in Scotland.

June, hail, frost ???

What next? Though here we have been baking in upper 70 degrees F for weeks on end and now for the last two weeks its been torrential rain for two days, baking hot again for another couple of days and then torrential rain again.

Love the owl!  ;D

Cold, windy, and crap
Somewhere, in the world, the sun is over the yardarm,

GeeGee

Would that be the owl or the weather?  :P

Windy owls  ??? Now there's a thought.  :)

Yep Geegee, NW London's where I dig and scuffle round on my little bit of paradise.  :)

Tonight's weather just went from the ridiculous to the sublime.

No chance of doing anything at the lottie today - every time the rain stopped, work started - and vice versa.
But I stuck my nose outside to check on the plants still skulking in pots and hardening off (just to make sure nothing had actually swum away) and found the world outside laying on an astonishing light show - a huge golden sunset on one side of the sky lighting up the brightest double rainbow I've ever seen against the opposite side.

I've never known a rainbow last so long: 20 mins at least, till the light burned out of the sunset. Wonderful stuff.  ;D

GeeGee

Oh how wonderful triffid!  :)

I love rainbows. Have always been totally fascinated by them and just think they are delight of nature.

It has been raining here for most of the day too. Could not believe my eyes when I looked out the window - absolute stair rods!  :o Honestly so hard and fast if you had walked out in it you would've been soaked to the skin within a minute. Then it got sunny for just a little while and then the rain came back with a vengeance again.

According to the weatherman we are stuck with this weather until after the weekend. Though I don't always take too much store on them as they all seem to say different things and can quite often be wrong. Rather stick my nose out the door and find out for myself!  :)
