Hi Everyone

I don't have a garden just decking but large pots and deep wide troughs.  I've recently topdressed everything with some peat free medium (Westland multi-purpose) and for the last 3 days there's been a hell of a mess on the decking - earth everywhere, all coming from a trough and two large pots.

Obviously something is having a high old time digging - not a cat definitely and I've not seen pigeons around here, but any ideas anyone?

I think I am going to have to get up very very early one morning.........

Thanks for any info

Caro

Hedgehog?   Suggest 10pm would be more the sort of time to start watching.

Is there any bulbs in the containers?

My guess is a ' fox'

A squirrel possibly.  They get up early and dig for bulbs in my pots.  Make a lot of mess.  Rats with a fluffy tail.

Blackbirds can make a real mess when grubbing for worms and will throw soil every where
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.

I've had problems also. blamed it on blackbirds, but lo and behold, as of 2 days ago we have a hedgehog......

I was going to say blackbirds. Whenever I mulch my borders the throw it all over the lawn and they love a root round in pots

^^ they also need mud to make/repair their nests and with the dry weather they have to find it in pots.

You sometimes see the female taking water from a birdbath in her beak to make mud in the ground.  It's a hard life being a Blackbird.
