There is currently a 27 YEAR (!) waiting list for a plot in Tameside...
On the Council website they are telling people there are no vacancies at this site -

There is now about half a plot dug over - and a defiant block planting of broadbeans  ;D

Will update the thread and provide contact details for the action group soon, in the meantime, if you live in Tameside come along next Saturday April 30th and get stuck in!

It went well - there are now over 160 people supporting the group, who meet every Saturday from 10am on site. Anyone is welcome to come along and join in, bring a spade and get stuck in or just bring some moral support - we will not roll over and go away!
Local press and radio are beginning to take up the story now - the more pressure on the Council to act the better!

BBC Radio Manchester are visiting the site this morning so hopefully more people will support the fight for the right to have an allotment...

Another update - Lucy Siegle and a film crew from BBC's The One Show were at Ashton Moss today, I think the story is on this Wednesday (25th May show) at 7pm.
