Yeah Dan knows - it seems to be a plugin for Simple Machines Forums (which is what A4A is)..
Personally I dont really like or want it but it is also very very ugly on the page..Should be nice and discreet below the post..

thanks for this thread -I was wondering the same thing.
I cancelled my facebook account as first I never got into using it, much better on here, then when I heard how much money Facebook is valued at I wondered how/ why it's worth so much. Good programme on Radio 4 yesterday about how people use social networking and what information they give away about themselves to the unscrupulous .  ???

elvis2003

well.now I.or anyone other A4A user can publish all your threads to our own facebook or twitter pages with a click of a button, strongly dislike! why Dan?

They've gone from the top, now just a small logo at the bottom of the first post!

Admin aka Dan

It should have been a little button at the bottom of the first post only ....  Hopefully it now is!

As to why .... some people have asked for the ability to link threads to facebook and twitter, I've heard they are popular sites (not used them myself ;)) ...

I gain nothing from them being shown, and could remove them if they were universally not liked.

You will notice than some boards do not display the links.

Thanks for replying Dan.Does this mean that the entire thread can be published on someones facebook page?

Admin aka Dan

No just a link to the thread.

It is no different really to threads appearing in google searches, just a more directed search really.

For example search for Happy Birthday jonny211 on google ....

pumkinlover

Thanks for explanation Dan, much better site this anyway :D

elvis2003

Thanks again Dan.Im not sure how keen I am,as I said,I enjoy FB and Twitter for staying in touch with overseas folk etc but do appreaciate the networking free zone of A4A,well,I used to!

Maybe a poll, do you think feeling that strong? ???

Flighty

I'm on both but I'm not that keen on the idea!

I think that a poll should have been done beforehand rather than foist it on us like this!
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

I suspect now it's not so "in your face" - no pun intended! folks won't be as bothered- ? ???

Alex133

Sorry, but I don't like this and surprised it was done without agreement.

SamLouise

I don't mind it but then again, I've been linking various A4A threads/posts to my Facebook page for quite some time anyway ;D

As it's a public forum that doesn't require registration to read any topics other than what's in the watershed, I'm not sure what the problem is as all the content is publicly accessible anyway.  As Dan mentioned earlier, google something from A4A, particularly a screename and it will bring up the A4A threads and posts straightaway so there really isn't much difference.

I don't have Twitter but I'll def. use the FB links if they stay :)
