Borlotti

Just got my allotment bill, it is £41.50 (£32 + £9.50 for water), and am pleased with that.  I must add that I am a resident of Enfield and over 65 yrs. (help).  With that came a leaflet that is interesting, 75% cultivation, or the dreaded ALL7 notice, but if you wish to down-size or have any problems speak to the Parks Business Unit (which I think is fair).  Also for another post, which I can't seem to find, Fly tipping and rubbish.  Briefly, person responsible will be taken to court, one case resulted in a plot holder being fined £1,700.  Fixed penalties have also been issued.  Also we get free compost, so all in all hurray for Enfield Council.  Will wait for response from Kev, also they are looking for site sec. but not at my site as we have a good man.

Hi Borlotti, I also received my bill today, £38.40 for the plot and £5.70 for the water, totaling £44.10, did you make sense of the food strategy on the first ever allotment newsletter, as you know I'm not one to complain but do the council know there not allowed to advertise on council drawn letters.   :-X     ;D ;D ;D

£29.50 including water and nsalg subs
You couldn't make it up!

Our plan is to put it up from £3.50 to £5.50...I think we have 'world war' ahead when it comes to voting ::)
No water nor compost but it would include nsalg subs.

For my ten pole plot I paid £47.10 last year, and I'll be paying £47.10 this year too.   ;)

Couldn't you round it up to £50 Simon, ;)  a little extra for the council boffins so they can get themselves a sherry or two.    ;D ;D ;D    :-X

We all paid ours last October

You lucky people. Here in sauf London the council is trying to increase prices by over 200%!  :o £20 per pole for non-concessions. Needless to say we are all up in arms about it. We already pay £65 a year for our plot (10 pole, I think). We expected bad news when they called a meeting last week, but to treble it is just taking the you-know-what. And, it was just luck that we knew about the meeting. Amazing. If they think the students rioting are bad, wait until they get to the allotmenteers!  :(
This year it's squash.

Squashfan

Yup, I know they're overcharging us (with the number of poles). We are definitely going to give them grief about it this year!  ;D

Just paid mine £60 for about 9  poles, I actually have 1/2 plus 1/4 but one piece is kind of triangular so more than half.    Private site.   Includes water and use of communal shed.  Very pleased has not increased this year.

200% increase sounds rather excessive.  That takes it to £195 a year.   :o

How come Newbury have not increased their charge?   ???

75% cultivation what a waste, I am all for 100%.  If someone has a whole allotment 25% is a nice quarter plot for someone.  But we have several plots with only a small percentage cultivated, with no waiting list and no pressure from the council if they pay they can continue growing weeds.   :(

Robert_Brenchley

If it means 75% of the total area, that's reasonable as it allows for sheds, compost heaps, paths etc.

Digeroo

We are not allowed sheds so I rather forgot them.
