I've just bought the last of mine in from outside, to spend the winter in my spare bedroom.  They are still flowering and in bud amd look very healthy.

Would I be able to take some cuttings from them now and would they survive until I wanted to plant them out next year?

many thanks

Sinbad

HI Sinbad

Give it a whirl.  I took some geranium cuttings mid October and they are in a cold greenhouse and doing well (atm) I think spare bedroom would be ideal for cuttings.

Just thought I'd chip in.

It's worth having a go but just remember to let the cut end of the cutting dry out first before potting and avoid using any hormone rooting powder. Apparently, they don't like it and root better without.

Thanks both for the replies.

Like a wally I took the cuttings and plonked them in some water ::)

I've been really busy and thought they would be fine but will rescue them any minute now.

I rarely use rooting powder and have more success than not.  I have a friend who roots everything in water, incl geraniums.  Why not leave those in water and take some more to root in gritty compost.......
