Roasted  Queensland Blue squash, parsnip and beetroots.  Steamed Green Wave mustard.  Grilled fishfingers (ASDA).  It's not always elegant  ;)

It was a good one today, I felt very proud: potoatoes and leeks au gratin (using homegrown garlic and herbs as well), then green beans and baby carrots as well.

We had it with chicken, which we had to buy, plus the cream for the gratin. But I think that might be my most home-grown meal yet.  :)

Just defrosted for lunch: leek potato and squash soup (from last year, trying to rotate the freezer :D).... pretty soon it'll be time to harvest quite a lot of my current leeks and I'll use up all the tiddler and "nto going to make it through the winter" spuds, some of the last of the garlic too.... I'm down to a handful of elephant garlic and three bubls of softneck.....some of that will be going in with the last of the tomatoes which are ripening up ATM.... and it'll also see off a chunk of the rapidly diminishing onion crop.....

A couple of days ago I stripped the tomatoes of their fruit, varying from green to orange, and some with quite tough skins - typical end of season toms.

Placed in a pan with a splash of balsamic vinegar, a clove or 2 of garlic, and a liberal sprinkling of black pepper.  Cooked over a low heat, more sweated than fried really.

Lovely with Fish & Chips as a side relish - sharp, but not sour, and a colourful addition to the plate.

Quite a weird meal of a sweet dumpling cut in half and microwaved for 8 minutes, then seeds scooped out and space filled with chopped tomato, chopped garlic, butter, olive oil, and grilled for a few minutes before adding a cheese topping and waiting until it was browned.

Meanwhile boiled sorrel and spinach beet, drained, added cream, salt, pepper, lots of parsley. Served with yoghurt sprinkled with basil, salt, pepper.

Surprisingly delicious.

(Bought tomatoes, cream and yoghurt, salt and pepper).
