I noticed that my "tundra" cabbages are looking and feeling ready , and on checking see that the packet says "harvest June-Oct", but on the front it says "extremely winter hardy". Does this just mean they can be left in over winter? They were only planted out in June so no way could i have harvested them then!

If it says being winter hardy..then you should be able to leave it and harvest when needed..but I would take some of the outer leaves off and check for any big slugs and snails that would eat your cabbages away..and if we get really cold weather like last winter some mulch..like straw or even fleece would not hurt...just to keep worst away ;)

Thanks. I haven't got many and last year the rabbits came out in force in the winter, so will probably use them up sooner rather than later! After I posted I checked my last year's diary and read that I harvested the first one on Oct 12th last year so they should definitely be ready now.

I would be harvesting autumn cabbages now if i was at home.  My Tundra  are usually harvested Dec-Feb
