OK folks when I have worked out how to do it I am going to set up a vote system.

If the money is split each charity could end up with very little money .

For a charity a little money is better than no money

Betula thanks.

Tonybloke thanks, and it'd be set up using JustGiving so that people can donate using credit/debit cards or their Paypal account.

Weequinie I thought that the idea is to donate to a single charity. To donate to several would involve setting up JustGiving pages for each one, unless you can suggest how else it would be done and who would then organise it as I don't think that I would.  Incidentally I've put forward GardenLeave as a neutral suggestion as I've never heard of it until reading Jazzidoodles comment earlier.

OK when we vote  the clear winner gets all.If there is a draw so to speak then we share.

This is as democratic as it can be  :)

Hope that is ok with the members who wish to take part.

Just because youve never heard of it doesnt make it any more neutral than any other. But you know what, if youre going to be dog in the manger about organising it because it ends up as not your choice forget about my suggestion. Ill carry on supporting Perennial but Im out of this.

I agee it would be easier to choose just one, and obviously anyone can donate to the others (instead or as well) if they want to. A vote seems the best way forward, so thanks, Betula, for agreeing to set it up.

grannyjanny

That seems the best way to sort it out Betula.

I agree that it should be just one charity and then they will get a decent sum of money to do something with. This went so well last year without any problems.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

betula

Thanks for the support ladies,it did go well last year.

Weequinie I will put the charity of your choice up for voting and I hope you realise it is hard to please everybody when doing something like this.

I hope you change your mind and join in in the sprit it has all been started.

goodlife

what ever the charity..I would like to take part too ;D

MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Weequinie I resent your remarks as I've not said that I wouldn't organise it if it wasn't a charity of my choice!
I'm more than happy to do so for whichever one is chosen, and donate to it.
My reluctance to organise it would be if our donation was to be split between several charities, and I ask again how would that be done?

Surely the charity that received the money last year shouldn't be in the vote this year and a new charity should get our money.

If anyone wants to give to the one that was run last year they can but hopefully a new charity will/should be supported this year by A4A.

Blimey, who knew that the idea of doing good and donating to charity could stir such harsh words?!  If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Along with most other people, I'm of the idea that it should be one charity we all donate to and I'm also happy to go along with the majority of whichever charity that turns out to be.  Well done Betula & Flighty :)

It all seemed so simple last year and I don't recall any arguments.  ::)

Putting it to the vote seems the way to go.

Hi,

I agree with a vote and all the money goes to one charity.  I may not be correct here, but I think the just giving site takes a small percentage to cover it's running costs?  if so splitting the donation would be diluting it even more.

Thanks for organising this Flighty & Betula
is it in the sale?
