Allotments 4 All

I grew some potatoes from TPS this year and I'm really happy with the results so far. I have saved the few seed pods my plants have produced and put them to one side to ripen. But I would really love to get a few extra for even more variety. If anyone has any spare potato apples/seed they would like to swap, that would be fantastic; I've got lots I can swap in return.

I'd be very interested in seed from salad/waxy types, good bakers, blight resistant sorts or from a coloured fleshed potato.

How long do you have to wait before removing the seed from the fruit.  I have my eyes on some fruit on a blue danube which is one of the sarpo blight resistant family. 

I'v gone on advice written by Tom Wagner which is along the lines of the fruits must be a minimum of 6 weeks before picking, but once past this date pods are mature enough to be picked and will if they are left somewhere dry further mature, when they turn brown and a bit squidgy.

Sorry  no idea how old they are but I guess they must be about that age now.  I expect that removing the seed is like tomatoes though they have a rather nice habit of telling you when they are ready.

My Bonnie have got lots of TPS on them, but they're not waxy, in fact this year they've been falling apart on cooking.

But I think the ratte also have some fruit on them. Would you like me to check when I go this weekend? They're a waxy salad type I think.

Pigeonseed, could I have a Ratte berry if Jayb doesn't want them or you have one spare.  It's my favourite  :)

Looks like lots of potato experiment beds next year  ;D

I saw a couple today, they're quite small and look quite new - so do I leave them to ripen a bit? Then I am happy to send one each to you two. How do I know when they're read to pick? I don't know when it's six weeks, because I didn't take any notice of them forming.
