First off, apologies for no pics, if ONLY I could (our digi doesn't have the reach) but I was thrilled yesterday to see the Greenfinches arrive (we've seen them since we put Niger seed out but now they're having a taste of everything I think, so there was one on the fat block and another on the niger then I looked down at ground level and there were 3 little juveniles picking up....Oh my! What I would have given for a tele-thingy lens....they've been back but not as such a group. Anyone else seen this?

we had the first visit from a pair of goldfinches with their young yesterday - 3 0r 4 babies. Hopefully it'll be like Picadilly Circus in a few days when the rest roll up  ;D

and the rose arch where the feeders are is stunning

Oh so glad to hear from you and your story! Am not going mad then...haha! Keep up the Greenfinch news?
Saw some today on teh ground under the Niger seed but grass is quite high so hard to make out size - Goldfinches were on the feeder so perhaps queue was in operation, who knows?
love watching them, so much fun 8)

borage is (one of) the things to grow to attrack greenfinches. They go potty for the seeds

Oh wow thanks for that Bugloss.....will bung some in! Have spent age timewasting watching them ..adorable. The adults have become more adventurous about the food on offer....they've been at the peanut feeder as well while the goldfinches have a turn at the Niger seed. Am thrilled I invested in that as we didn't see either finch .

Will have to get a camera that can zoom!

Excellent news!  I also had my first visit of greenfinches to the feeders this week.  I have a family of goldfinches on a regular basis, but I had to get the book out to check on the new arrivals.  The male was on the niger feeder and the female was tucking into the sunflower seeds.
is it in the sale?
