I do like a barbeque during the warmer months but I am fed up with buying bags of lumpwood charcoal that consist of dust and flakes with a few large lumps thrown in.
The brickettes are ok but are a pain to light and somehow dont quite have the right character..maybe it doesnt smell right!!

Do any of you have a recomendation for good quality British lumpwood charcoal?

Can't help you with that..sorry...just wanted to say that I never bother with charcoal when doing barbie...I just burn some wood..and when the flames start dying down it is ready for cooking... ;)
Wood is easier to get hold on than decent charcoal....it is cheaper (for me) and I like to see flames too..we just start preparing a bit earlier than with charcoal..and after food we chuck few bits of wood again and enjoy the flames again while sitting around 'the old camp fire'...  ;)
