Ok I don't know how to describe it, but I went into the g/h this morning and on the top of the soil of my toms and the cucumber I found it looked like either a foggy misty morn or as if a zillion spiders had decided to thread away.Yet it was not web, well not like I have ever seen,  It was only on these plants in the big pots but I have no idea what it is, do you ?

Ignore me I'm having a breakdown.

betula

Looks like some kind of fungus :(

superspud

I scraped it all off and I am hoping that will be enough, if its a fungus I suppose I am doomed ?.

Not necessarily. It seems to be in the compost, so it could be feeding on something in that, and leaving the plant alone.

betula

Is the soil soaking wet?Remember you need air and light otherwise you create ideal fungus situation.

superspud

Hi Robert thanks for the reply, as for the soil Betula yes it was "overly wet" the kids watered everything last night and maybe over did it all.

Did you by any chance add some organic fertilizer on surface..? Sometimes when I have applied something like groworganic..few days later I get similar stuff on surface..doesn't do any harm though..

Superspud...I have asked  again you know who..the one that gave the first apple,

Nearly all my sowings this year have had that, it's cos the compost frmo the council composters hasn't quite finished yet (as far as I can tell) ... it's feeding on the compost, it doesn't seem to be affected by Cheshunt Compound and it doesn't seem to hurt the plants/seedlings are my current observations....

I do have a tank of mushroom compost growing under the bench, and I did put some BFB on the tops of most of my plantings earlier this week, haven't checked the g/h today as I just woke up half hour ago after watching the voting till early hours, will check in a bit and see if there is new growth.

No sign of it today, hopefully it will stay that way.

Ive got that on my tomato compost in my greenhouses too. Ive scrapped it off and opened the greenhouses so im hoping that will fix it.
