can you divide supermarket garlic  and plant it to get a good crop?

Well i dont know how mine are going to turn out but ive done the same (planted november)

Now they look very healthy and tall stems!

Yes you can but its something i don,t recommend if you are growing it directly into the soil, its not treated as you get from the seed merchants.
Also i am convinced that untreated garlic is the cause of onion white rot
