Allotments 4 All

I thought this might be of interest, so often we hear people say my daffodils have stopped flowering and they are told to dig them to and divide them. I am not saying this is wrong as I lift my show beds every 2 years but you can get round it. When I started in the gardens where I am now 24 years ago  there were large groups  of daffodil foliage in the lawns but almost no flowers. There seemed to be too many to lift so I tried another way. I feed with growmore late Jan/Feb before the soil is warm and the grass growing, this allows the feed to go past the grass roots to the roots of the bulbs. This picture was taken today and it is at least 40 years since the bulbs were planted and they have never been lifted

It's a bit difficult to do in a lawn without killing the grass, but once mine die back I'm going to dump a load of rotted-down grass cuttings on them. They're out in the lane, and some clumps aren't flowering so well this year.

if you do a light dressing it does the job but no damage to grass,to feed after the foliage had died down is really too late for that year..In July they are already forming new roots.

I'll give it a try then. We've just had a clean up around the church, and it would be nice to get the daffs in the grass there flowering again.
