Hi Marianne, thanks for your reply, yes i do grow them in pots, in a sharp sandy compost mix 40% sand - 60% compost for drainage,  but you must give the pot grown plants water every day when it's hot weather (even placing the pots in a bucket  to hold extra water through out the hot times, and placed in the ground on a 2" layer of a sandy compost mix them coverd in compost and soil mix 4-6"deep or three times there hight, place and plant in full sun (i find best ) i dont bother to move them as i have a large beech hedge all around my garden, i take the pots only in the winter time, watch out for a red lily beetle, i give them some tomato feed in srping when they come through the soil and that's about it,
hope this helps

Hi Windygale,
Thank you so much for your reply and technical advice.  I will now definitely go out and purchase some for my own little garden.  I will also look out for that nasty sounding beetle.
Thanks and have a great day !

Mrs Ava

Love them!  I have 8 in a huge pot which I plonk in a suitable bare patch in the garden come summer time.  Can't have them in the house as Ava has terrible hayfever and they play him up something shocking, but in the garden, wonderous!

p.s.  Eric, the bulblets you sent me late last summer I think it was, all in their pot growing like mad, along with a tray of aconite seeds you sent me that have sat through all weather doing nowt, now lush with green seedlings!  Love spring!!
