I always thought you have to seek permission from the coast guard, but was told on here you can take it as long as its washed up and don't help yourselves to skipfulls of the stuff, the seasiders will be along soon with their knowledge.  ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I asked the manager in charge of our local beach cleaning team.
He was more than happy for me to take seaweed that had washed up passed the waterline.
He just told me to throw any still attached to rocks back in.
2 of the beach cleaners helped me bag a load up and they were nice enough to carry it to my car.

Seaweed deposited on the 'strand line' is youirs for the taking.(unless it's a 'private' beach) You are  not allowed to harvest the stuff growing on rocks / groynes. If you are  putting it on the garden around any of the brassicca family of plants, or around asparagus, there's no need to rinse off the salt. (both are seashore plants) Rinse it before use on other plants.  ;)
from a 'seasider' as kev calls us  ;D ;D ;D
You couldn't make it up!
