Birth story well -

Waters broken 6.30 am Sunday
Contractions for about 30-45 min every 5-10 min the stopped.
Checked into fetal assessment unit and the confirmed my waters had broken and told me if labour did not start to call 7pm Monday to come in.

Nothing happened so in I went. Induced at 11 pm mw was incacapable of getting my catharher in so got 2 blown veins on on left hand and one right arm, I would not let her have another go so she got someone else who popped this into my right hand. So 2 arms useless for a few hours. 6 hours later I was 1 inch dialated with contractions every 4-5 min, the started me on the hormone drip and contractions got stronger and now every 2 min. So this was at about 5am Tuesday morning they assessed

Me again 6 hours later so 11am ish was 2 to 3cm and found the membrane had not rubtured but cervix was soft so she went in and ruptured with a hook. Had pethadine at 2pm, had been coping with tens from 9am. When contractions and cramps peaked at next assesment and had only got to a good 3cm I had an epidural but in because of the contractions and my back problems it took almost 2 hours for them to fit the epidural and they had to use an ultrasound machine and 5 anaesthetis in the end. So it was only in for about 9pm. and as i was contracting all the way though the 2 hours i could not move and only had the gas and air to cope with the pain...

Contractions now stronger but still every 2 min was to be assessed again in 6 hours and in fact was checked about 10pm when it was confirmed baby had turned back to back and got stuck (breach) during this time and dispite hormone drip was still only 3cm the advised a cesarian I was in a lot of pain and tired so agreed. Baby born 11.24 and weighted 7lb .15oz breast feed quickly and she slept through the night is very alert and happy bunny.

Were were kept in 36 hours as she was so long before waters broke just to check on things.

Baby is very long almost fills the cot at the end of my bed in fact she 52cm long.

Shes been home a few days now and is feeding well and although she lost 9% of her body weight she has started to put some back on now and had had some normal bowel movements. Which i am told is the turning point in the baby coping with having been born and coping with breast milk.

I have had my staples out but cant drive or do any heavy lifting for another 5-6 week so there goes the garden for a while longer.

Mortality

Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Aaaw Louise she is beautiful and I love her name  :)

Don't worry about your garden or anything else, just treasure your time with your little one, the jobs will wait and she will grow up so fast, just enjoy her and savour the moments with her.  I love it when they are snuggling into you with that headbobbing motion routing for the milk, lovely.  You can tell I am a real old broody thing!! :-[

Enjoy her.xxxx

Congratulations, she's so lovely.
Your birth story is very similar to my daughters - she also took a long time to get pregnant, but she didn't need a cesearian.  Second time around for her, she had a half hour labour and everything happened so quickly the baby was born at home, just as the called-out paramedics arrived, with the midwife arriving 15 minutes later.

Well done you! ;D

Will not offer any midwifery type advice as I am sure you have had more than enough from inumerable sources.... ::)

Accept all offers of help and take your time to get to know Harriet, she will grow at an amazing rate and will look different from day to day, so make the most of the time you have with her now.

I made the mistake of sending my mum back to London the day after I had my 2nd baby, in reality I was struggling to cope with an unstable pelvis but too proud to admit it, 24 hours later I was on the phone begging her to come back! She stayed for two weeks, I sat around and did little except recover, drink tea, eat mums delicious snacks and lunches and breastfed! I'm sure it would not have gone so well if mum hadn't been there to let me concentrate on him, the temptations to 'get back to normal' and do stuff around the house and garden are so great and hard to resist. Good luck! ;D

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I thought you might like this poem. :)

I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
