is it just me or maybe it's just that the growing season is coming to an end but every time I log on the home page is the same,  a billion boring posts asking what this that or the other one is planning on planting or how one is planning on planting it. All a load of twaddle and very tedious, I'm afraid I have started to look at other more interesting boards because of it, sad as this has been the best forum I've come across.  :(

I still think this is one of the best forums I have come across and like all internetweb forums it has its ups and downs.  It is a little down at the present and that has to do with a certain amount of unrest and people not posting and is also consequence of coming to the end of the growing year.  However it is down to all of us to continue to make this the best growing site around so we should all bear with it and contibute in a positive way!

I for one like to know what people have or are going to grow, helps me decide what or not to grow. :)

Seems like one man's meat is another man's turnip! :P

Personally I find it very useful right now when I'm placing orders for next year to know what people have been happy and successful with growing. And any tips that will help me to get better produce next year are more than welcome.

I thought that was what the forum was about?! It's a gardening forum. Growing stuff is what brought most of us here.

And sure there are extras from time to time like choclit n stuff but bottom line is I want you to share your growing expertise with me. That's what I signed up for. Anything extra is a bonus.

BTW how does this qualify as "news"? Seems more like a moan to me! :o :o :-X

I come on this forum for the excellent advice, i ask questions and im interested in what everyone else is up to and i give advice where i can.

If YOU dont care about others growing, and YOU have no questions and no POSITIVE input then franky what are you doing here.
Thanks so much for the helpful stimulating post.

I think S.A.D is setting in in this house, don't know how many gardeners suffer from it but I sometimes just feel like hibernating..I cheer myself up with the fact that it's still quite warm and dry  :-\
mind you, it definitely cheers me up, coming on this site  ;D

is it just me ...

The way I see it, you have two choices;

1) Start a thread on something you find interesting.
2) Ask plainleaf2 if he knows any sites that he thinks are interesting and knowledgeable.  :-X

reddyreddy I think it's because the growing season is over that there aren't so many topics but as you are going to other more interesting site's, why don't you start some of these interesting topics on this forum?

saddad

Despite the tag... I'm not SAD Mel....  ;D

I know endless lists can make you a bit goggle eyed at times.I like to trawl and I pick up on things that capture my imagination and put it on my own seed list for the following season.

The blogs are good,Love Georgie's little London Garden blog. The vids are good too.

You have The Shed ,watershed if you get veggied out.

Suppose we can all be a bit boring at times but stick with it reddyreddy   ;D

Keep them coming! The best way of finding good varieties is to ask other gardners what they were happy with this year,if they,ll grow them again and what new stuff will they try next year.

This is a great forum with lots of help and advice from most who contribute. We,re never too old to learn from others who are growing good crops ( most people except me this year!) and who are always willing to help.

I joined it because I like the attitudes of you all so I,m not looking elsewhere.

If it wasn't for Jeannine raving about Mokum carrots (year before last, cor!) I wouldn't hve tried them. They're great, thank you Jeannine.

Fair point, just list after list of veg gets tedious to read, maybe the vote option should be used so we could see what the majority vote for with regards to favourite veg type. It's good to get a moan out of your system sometimes and that's one of the reasons I liked this forum in the first place, it's like talking over the fence to your plot neighbour and having a moan is part of it.  ;D (I'll just ignore sunlovings 'tude!!  ;) )

Some days are better than others.  Do miss some of the jokers.

Autumn is such a lovely time when all the leaves fall from the trees and the wind blows them away, and they are then gobbled up by the worms.  Seems there is a shortage of worms though, and not much wind lately. ;D ;D ;D

cjb02

this is a great forum. I love people posting what they are growing next year. As one poster put it, one mans meat is anothers man turnip

Biscombe

Its seasonal to talk about planning on planting or how one is planning on planting it!

Digeroo

I presume that all the lists of preferred varieties will turn up in the book when it gets editted for the UK market.

But I have found some of the suggestions very useful.

manicscousers it is not "SAD" that is problem. Sounds like ketchup withdraw since ketchup has natural mellowing  agents. well at least  that's what" Ketchup Advisory Board" says.
