I planted all my garlic about 4 weeks ago... the normal garlic are up about 5 inches high, but still no sign of the elephant....

Will it take a lot longer to grow?

It was from my own stock....

We planted our 2 weeks ago with the onions. The ordinary garlic is shooting but the elephant which is also our own seed hasn't shown yet
When I get old I don't want people thinking

If you're desperate I could send you some, Manics. It can take a while to come up, but it gets there in the end.

If you want some, PM me. There's plenty of time, mine isn't in yet.

I put in three rows today, 2 of garlic and one of elephant in next years allium patch. There's also going to be a row of "funnies" where the three truly enormous elephant garlic cloves I got from Jayb will go, they're currently in pots (with plenty of roots showing at the bottom... that row will also get potato onions and a couple of different tree onions (the Catawissa's will be in a row of their own), plus probably the welsh onions.... given that we're predicted decent weather in terms of temperature for the next week or so I'd say now was a perfect time to get them in.
