Purchased Xmas spuds  from T&M, planted them beginning of August.  I have had to harvest one container of my new spuds that were supposed to be for Xmas.  All the halums had totally rotted down after turning brown last month.  The others do not look like they will make it too Xmas neither.  Anybody else having the same issues.

If the tops started going over last month, it was too early for frost so blight maybe?

I planted some late maincrops in August.  They all grew through so I earthed them up and then a couple times more.  Around mid September I noticed that only a quarter of the plants grew back through.  The ones that grew through started to rot down about 2 weeks ago and the others never grew again.  Today I decided to dig some up.  Out of 2 8ft by 4ft beds with 12 seed pots planted in each, we got about 1kg back.  I bought these from Suttons.  I shall not be using them again.  For next year my maincrops and earlies have been bought from Marshalls and I am waiting for them to be delivered sometime nearer christmas.  I am also going to try some Tesco Finest range exquisa as advised by All ABout Liverpools website to see how that goes.

Planted my xmas spuds late July, ate them last week, they were the best out of all the pots I grew this year on the plot  for flavour and quantity ;D  ;D

After the last 2 years losing my christmas crop to blight, and it's pretty much guarenteed that once one plant gets it the rest will, and with the price of 2nd crop seed potatoes this year I didn't specifically bother.
That said all the spares I planted in August are still going strong, and touch wood, no sign of blight yet.....

This week may change all that..

manicscousers

ours have blight but the ones in the poly(volunteers from spring) are going great guns  ;D
