Allotments 4 All

Hi all,
           I have a paper lantern plant, which according to the label, is very hot, & also shows it as a green pepper. Looking on various sites it seems to be shown as a red pepper, which is correct? At the moment there are several 2 inch long green fruits on it, do I need to wait for them to turn red? They are not in a greenhouse, but they are brought in doors at night.

Adrian, according to the chileman database Paper Lantern ripens from "lime green to a bright iridescent scarlet red". I'd be tempted to try one while it's green, but it'll be tastier when it's ripened up.

I love these chillies, they hang bellow in a canopy loaded with fruits.

I think that may be the case  :( Just out of interest when did you sow the seeds?

               I didn`t sow the seeds, it was a plant I bought from a garden centre in late May, at the same time i bought an apache plant which has been excellent, many fruits already picked & many more to come, I am a bit dissapointed with the paper lantern, as it has very few fruits on it, I also think that it is unlikely to ripen up at this late stage.

If you cut it back and over winter it, you'll have a head start next season
