Thought for the Day

The Beeb are thinking about opening up Thought for the Day to non-religeous thoughts.  The religeous thinkers are not very happy with the idea, but that doesn't seem very tolerent.  I'd like to hear other perspectives, religeous and non-religeous.  Humanists for sure, and I'm sure there are a bunch of philosophers that would have some insight, but not being funny, where are the neo-pagans and satanists.

Here's an old one, I think not sure why though.
Perhaps I had forgotten what.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

Although a practising Christian myself ( might get the hang of it one day!!) I have no problem with other view points...  :-\

betula

Surely we listen to non religious thought all day long on TV and Radio.

They do not need a special spot for it at all.

I hope they leave it alone,I for one enjoy it as it is. :)

saddad

I enjoy it as it is.... but even atheists can be uplifting...  :-\

My thought for the day is don't spend all day watering the allotment, then get home and hear thunder and it is pouring with rain.  My thought for the day is look at the miracle of all the lovely plants growing on my allotment, and be thankful for the rain and sun etc. etc. and I am not religious, just love nature, but perhaps nature is religion and religion is nature.

Mine - don't sweat the small stuff (actually Stephen King's but I've borrowed it)  :)
What I lack in ability and experience, I make up for in sheer enthusiasm!!!

  Stop worrying ,
Stop wondering ,
Get off that roundabout.

A lot of the God-bothering brigade are up in arms about letting the humanists have a daily slot on the beeb, but what are they frightened of? ;)
You couldn't make it up!

saddad

I suppose I'm a God botherer.... but it doesn't bother me...  :-\

betula

Not frightened of anything Tony?As a bit of a God botherer myself I just wish the Humanists would have there own slot and leave us botherers alone. :)

tonybloke

I wish the beeb would drop the god slot every morning, if folk want it, they can go to church.  ;)
You couldn't make it up!

Not  a good argument

You could find an alternative to most progs on TV and Radio.

Why listen to the Archers???yes.............why do folk listen to the Archers ;D

My Thought for the Day.

Only when the power of love overcomes the love of power, will there be peace.

Not sure who first said it, probably someone like Johnny Lennon.
When Santa's about, just hoe-hoe-hoe

saddad

Sounds more like Ghandi...  :-\

RobinOfTheHood

Jimi Hendrix, believe it or not.  :)
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

Thought for the Day is the worst moment of my morning.  I always turn the radio off now after years of listening the most awful cliche ridden verbal diarrhea known to man.  I am a non believer but for the life of me I can't see what anyone gets out of listening to the repetitive childish nonsense that spews forth day after day.
Open it up to everyone or get rid of it.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Froglegs

Does it matter who says it as long as it's a thought  ???
