I hope that some of you are going to have a go at this.

Me and the family have just started to pick off some of these leaves in readiness for the breakfast meal chinese style.
In an area of china they get the leaves from the plants the previous night and then quick cook them in a wok with a small piece of fish.
Better than cereal so they say and also good for the blood system.
All this food in the garden is going to make piggie satisfied. no weight gain to boot. ;D ;D ;D

I think I recognise most of them...  :)

It sounds very healthy but it would be hard facing a fish for breakfast.
The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.

Kippers are fairly typical breakfast fodder.

For the vegheads out there, you can add a bit of tofu, soy sauce, and a bit of ginger

Breakfast went down well with the family and we shall be doing it again when the plants have had chance to grow a bit more.
More over I was unsure as to whether I would like it, but it came as a shock when it also help with digestion if you have a light breakfast without any wheat or dairy products as so many of us do.

A man after my own heart on this one but ohhhhhhhhh the indigestion afterwards.
Landimad is it a special mixed packet. It looks lovely. We are wheat & dairy free & do get stuck for breakfast frequently.

I found them in Asda under the Johnson seed range. Not sure as to the name, but they are chinese leaves stir fry or something. Very more-ish. ;D ;D ;D

Looked but can't find :(.

I too have looked at their web site and no seed at all there.
I have to go to the store and have a look as they may have some left in stock.
I will advise as to the make, model and variety in them.

Nice alternative but me thinks I will stick to this version for now.
They are starting to self seed so I shall try to chop them back and see if they form like other brassica's.

Grannyjanny,
I have loked and found that they have stopped selling seed for this year.
I have found a web page that may assist,
http://www.evergreenseeds.com/vegetableseeds.html
The mix from what I can remember is
Coi Sum
Bak Choi
Pak Choi
Gai LAn
Hon Tsai Tai
Pei Tsai
If any more come to mind then I will let you know.

Had a lovely meal of chicken and chinese leaves in a oyster and spring onion sauce,
with special fried rice for my daughters 21st birthday.
She said that she was really lucky to have a dad like me to cook these fancy meals as she calls them. As an ex-chef I can only say that food is great and any test in cooking can only get better by practice.

Hi,
Found the seed packet in the shed. It was Suttons salad mix stir fry.

I must say that the salad leaves have now gone to seed and will not be much worth eating so I shall dig it in and use the nutrients for another crop.
