I have a lonely single sweet potato slip. I think on GW Joe Swift planted up a wig wam. Would it be possible to plant it with the runner beans. The canes are 9" apart.

I have finally got one too. After months and months of putting them in water to no result, I finally have one.  So I also would like advice on what to do with it now.  The whole sweet potato has loads of roots.  Hopefully I have the winning formula now and will get them sooner next year.

I stuck my last swet potato in the soil in the poly, it had a few shoots left on..they do need a long warm growing period, ours are only just starting to grow properly so what have you got to lose?  :)

You can also just stick it in a bucket or large pot. Plants are just as happy to flop down over the side as climbing up a pole.

Thanks. I think I'll put it in a pot then. Should I leave it in the greenhouse.

If there is space they prefer the extra heat otherwise they have to manage outside.

Make sure the pots are deep and large enough as the potatoes like to form quite deep down and will need room to swell.
