My darling nephew has just cleared a large bed, which was a bit of a dumping ground on the lottie ( a job that has been on the things to do list for some time). I'm pleased as punch but it has left me with a bit of a dilema because I have nothing ready to put in. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Psi (Pronounced 'Si'!)

courgettes? Runner/french beans?  Peas?  Roots like turnip, radish, fennel, swede, beetroot?  Lettuce? Chard/ Perpetual spinach?

If the bed is a decent size then maybe a  bit of each?!?

On Sunday I planted a load of seeds in little pots and some are already through. I have no space yet but will do when the broad beans are harvested and spuds come up in a couple of weeks.

Spring Greens,
Swedes (these will go in T'roll tubes when they pop up, it worked last year)
Savoy
Winter lettuce
radish
Carrots (check the variety is suitable)
Winter cauliflowers

Nasturtiums and Sage grow well in poor soil.

Sweet williams and forget me nots can be sown now for flowers next year.

If you are on an allotment, walk round and ask if any one has any spare plants, most of us grow too much, just in case.
