;D After months of waiting at last the asparagus shoots have come through on thirty new crowns.  Was getting really worried that they were not coming up and was thinking about having another strawb patch in place of them next year.

Dont worry I know to leave them well alone this year and next only take a few spears.  Was just so pleased that they have now at last come up and look well and healthy.

I planted my crowns about 3 weeks ago - initially dug 6" or so of soil back over then realised I should be back filling a little at a time so skimmed a few inches back off.  Had a good look at the bed the other day and a few spears are up!  Tiny things and very thin, but it is encouraging so I gave them a nice feed. Probably about 3 shoots I can see so I hope the other crowns come through. Can I say that I got the crowns from TM Parkers they didn't look great when they arrived, so I was worried.  Fingers crossed.

same here was a bit worried about the crowns being dry as a bone when I bought them.  A job I had been putting off handweeding the patch was also done this afternoon.  I now realise that their are about twenty shoots coming up so far.

were your crowns from Parkers too?
