Because I have run out of room in my garden, I am trying this for the first time. I have planted the seed in long rectangular clay pots and germination has already started.

one of our people grew these in a container in the polytunnel over winter and got a good crop, he sowed them in august last year  :)

I grew beetroot in containers last year and they were quite successful.
However I did make the mistake of not thinning them enough so they took an age to get to be a decent size. Having said that I finally finished lifting them at the end of November so they lasted well.

This year I am trying a monogerm beetroot to save on the thinning out.
However the early ones I sowed had poor germination but the ones I sowed about ten days ago look a lot more promising.
