The annoying thing about meat is, bits get stuck in between my back teeth and it drives me nuts trying to get them out despite using floss and  those mini flue brush things.

I love the flavour of meat so am happy enough to cook it to provide a decent gravy then eat a meal of vegetables with a decent meat sauce over them.

When they first came out,  I thought that I would give meat substitutes a try.

The mince beef, I thought tasted artificial as mince, although in a bolognaise sauce it was not distinguishable. The sausages tasted fine but seemed rather oily. Fine for sausage rolls though.

I bought white quorn and put it in stir fries and curry dishes with vegetables and we all thought that the dishes would have been just as good, if not better with just the vegetables.

It is not something I would bother to buy again. I have gone back to loads of veg and meaty gravy.

we got a couple of award winning local butchers around here, all organic and local meat, why bother with over-processed pap? ;)

People who don't eat meat can have a multitude of reasons.

:) I've had homemade white quorn and squash curry tonight very tasty, you just need to know how to use quorn, you can do all sorts of things with it.

nice recipes Hector, will give them a go :)/shades

p.s I don't like quorn sausages, but Morrison's meat free ones are great, very much like the real thing

I use quorn sometimes.I prefer the chunks than mince and use in stir frys & casseroles. I like to have it in the freezer for if I haven't taken meat out to defrost the night before. I think it makes a change.

Tesco was doing 99p quorn cubes in freezer last week.

Last week I did quorn chunks stir fried in a tomato pesto sauce with onions and peppers and served with pasta.
