Something is munching its way through my basil, not touching lettuces, wonder if its the lip on the tubs putting them off, will be out tonight with my torch to see what we have, do you know anything that prefers basil to salad greens, could it be an italian slug?

saddad

If you found it, it presumably went "on it's travels"....  ;D

phoenix_co2

not found the culprit yet, but i will, oh yes i will (followed by evil laugh)  ;D

phoenix_co2

ok, popped out just before bed with the old head torch on, found couple of earwigs lurking in the area, could these be the culprits, i despatched them rather quickly just in case

saddad

I'm not aware of them eating seedlings... as a rule of thumb, if it can shift to get away, it eats creatures not plants...  :-\

thifasmom

i thought earwigs ate pollen, i just did a google and found that they omnivorous and do eat plants and insects so they may have been your culprits.

saddad

If the damage stops.... it was probably them...  ;D

phoenix_co2

Wasn't seedling Saddad was full grown basil, maybe they fancied a bit of veg to go with their meat, will monitor
