I saw this on the plot yesterday and didnt recognise it. 
Do any of you have any idea what it is - it looks nasty!

We had one of these last year -  a daytime moth that's big and looks scary but is actually harmless and rather fun.

Thanks for bringing this up Barriedalenick,

I took a photo of these in the garden a week or so back, and could no get a very clear picture, or identify it on any web sites. Now i know what it is. We have a tree in the garden that hosts solitary bees at the base, they seem to love this tree for some reason. Thanks again.
