Hi all,

Why does nobody tell you how tall a calabrese plant will grow? The seed packets I've looked at don't mention it at all. Being very naive I assumed they grew moreorless at ground level (don't laugh - think of cabbages, cauliflowers...) and was VERY surprised last year when they just kept going up... and up... and up!

In the end the low netting I'd carefully arranged over them was absolutely useless and they were attacked by everything under the sun. (No hang on, what sun?)

Well you live and learn!

A bit more information on the packet please guys... ::)

I mixed the labels on some of mine last year, had sprouts and calabrese in the cabbage bed, some of them got a bit squashed before Ray lifted it higher  ;D

Me too with a few this year.  I've just got them in a TALL cage and hope for the best.

I know I've just mentioned this on another thread, but I use old mini greenhouse frames to make tall brassica net cages, works well for PSB and broccoli! ;D

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

That's a brilliant idea, thanks!
