Mine are still in a tray; it's going to be a couple of days before I have any reproduction going on! Someone will have them.

Hi Badstripe, this one got past me... pm me if you still want some... any amount? 1-1000...  ;D

Ok this is another one i've never head of!  What are they?  I think i've learnt more this week than all winter reading books! ;D

saddad

related to leeks/onions but not a true leek. Tall perennial. Gives offshoots that can be eaten as leeks about now when leeks are being used up...

Twoflower

So do you plant them every year like a leek and not a welsh onion?

saddad

No you plant them once, and if they are happy you spend years digging the new plants ( from the flower heads) up...  ;D

Twoflower

Sorry  have a cold and it's making me thick. So do they spread like a chive? ???

saddad

Sort of but much, much bigger... The bulbils are about pea size. They grow into thin spring onion type things in the first year, look like proper leeks the second, then just keep growing making offshoots around the base, say 4-5 "leeks" around the mother plant... just break off and use as leeks..  :)

Hi SD. How far apart do they need to go & are they best in the allium bed or can they go anywhere.
Janet

They can go anywhere, being perennial they stay put. At this stage I'd just pot them on until about May then give 1' to 18" each way... you can under plant them with small trailers like lobelia to fill the ground if you want...  :)

grannyjanny

That was quick. Thanks. Have PM you.
