Yes I must get around to sowing mine this week.... ::)
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Yep.. 1st Sunday in June and September... 11-5pm £3 for the NGS...

Take it you are fond of tomatoes then?

Can I  please remind anyone who does not know this,  that from the side shoots ( the ones we nip off) of tomato plants we can use to make cuttings which catch up very quickly.

Just stick the whole shoot into wet compost in a flower pot.

Saddad, your greenhouse must cover all of Derby

I find other plotholders "donate" moneymaker to the plant sale... we usually have 30-50 of them left but they don't get planted in the "greenhouse" as the weird ones and any that need growing out for seed get priority...  :)

saddad, please, can't we do a A4A coach party to come and see you in Derby !

Think I had better Google Earth,   want to see all this going on,

I am too old for 30 odd varieties of tomatoes, but I don't mind watching !     ;D

If you want to organise it We'd love to have you all, as a "party" for the NGS... they keep the cash. I'd recommend just before the "Open Day" Sale in June...

You could even get to see inside DebP's fabled shed...

Thats too much information Saddad  ;D ;D ;D

Are any of the varieties you listed Beef toms? I tried some a couple of years ago (but can't remember the variety) and they grew to a decent size but by the time they started to ripen they were being eaten  - and not by me! I wonder if they need more heat than normal toms, as I grew mine on the patio?  I'd be interested to know how you get on with them?

Yes several, Marmande and super Marmande are probably the best known from my list. I grow the big ones under glass... you can see one in one of the photo's with the knife...  :)

Thanks Saddad - I think the "under glass" is key with these beauts. I'll see what I can rig up in the garden....

saddad

Or polythene... many of the "bush" ones can grow well under a poly canopy, helps keep the rian off the foilage and reduces blight... they need the long season more than the heat...  :)
